The Little Caucasus, Kackar Mountains or Pontic Alps, are almost
an unknown area on the extreme south-east coast of the Black Sea.
The people of this region lead a nomadic life, travelling with
their cows and sheep between the lower valleys and high pastures,
where they live for three or four months each year, pursuing a
way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries. The woman
wear brightly coloured scarves turban-style. In this life of the
mountain villages, one senses the gaiety and excitment, with singing
and music of bagpipes. While it may sound like another travellers
tale, it is infectious and difficult to resist joining on an evening's
dancing when invited. This trek will be enjoyed by all those who
genuinely like exploring previously almost unvisited areas.

Day 1 - ISTANBUL
Arrival at Istanbul, transfer to the hotel and overnight. (D)
Day 2 - ISTANBUL / ERZURUM / YUSUFELI
Transfer to the airport for flight to Erzurum, drive to Yusufeli.

Drive to Altiparmak Village, half day trekking and overnight

Day 4 - KAÇKAR RANGE
Departure from Altiparmak village to Olgunlar Village. Overnight

Day 5/6 - KAÇKAR RANGE
Departure from Olgunlar Village to the base camp (Dilberdüzü).

Day 7 - KAÇKAR SUMMIT - 3932 m.
Climbing to the summit of Mt. Kaçkar afterwards return
to the base camp and overnight. (B.L.D.)
Day 8 - KAÇKAR / TRABZON
Drive to Trabzon, visiting Sümela Monastry. Overnight at

Day 9 - TRABZON
Full day sightseeing tour of Uzungöl. Overnight at the hotel.
